New Orleans Saints quarterback and former Florida State football star Jameis Winston is now a college graduate.
One of the greatest players in Florida State football history is now a college graduate, as Jameis Winston received his diploma as part of Florida State’s spring commencement over the weekend.
While he is entering his third season as a quarterback for the New Orleans Saints, Winston will always be a legend down in Tallahassee. As a redshirt freshman, Winston quarterbacked the Seminoles to their most recent national championship in 2013. He became the third player in school history to win the Heisman Trophy. So much has changed since he turned pro in 2015…
Here are a few pictures Winston tweeted from the special day for him and his family.
Florida State football legend Jameis Winston graduates from his alma mater
Tallahassee will always be a special place for he and his family. The former two-sport star decided to turn pro after his redshirt sophomore season. He may have only been a handful of credits shy anyway.
Though he might be in his late 20s, it is never too late to finish what you started. Having his degree from Florida State University will open up even more doors for him once his football career is over. Even more so, being a graduate of his alma mater will only help his cause to be a goodwill ambassador for all things Florida State football going forward.
As far as what the future holds for Winston, he is the unquestioned starter in New Orleans for former Saints defensive coordinator Dennis Allen who is taking over for the retired Sean Payton. If Winston and the Saints play up to their standard, they can be a playoff team this season.
No matter how long it takes, it is always cool to see athletes, or anyone, walk at their graduation.
