Week 9 of the 2022 Major League Soccer campaign is in the books, and players did not disappoint.
Jesus Ferreira and Alan Velasco delivered in a stunning fashion for FC Dallas, while Sebastian Driussi sealed the victory for Austin FC with a 66th minute goal. But none compare to Sebastian Ferreira’s goal this week, toping our list at best.
Jesus Ferreira has been a crucial part of FC Dallas’ 2022 success, and his performance on Saturday was no different.Â
After a great run from the left, the forward found a pocket of space within the box to complete the right footed shot into the top corner of the goal.Â
The player scored his eighth goal of the season to secure a draw against Sporting Kansas City and propel himself to second place of the Major League Soccer Golden Boot race.
Darlington Nagbe’s 75th minute strike sealed the 3-0 victory for the Columbus Crew against D.C. United to maintain their top seven standings on the Eastern Conference table.Â
A failed corner ended up at his feet and Nagbe unleashed a lovely strike from outside the box to confirm the win.
It was the midfielder’s second goal in nine appearances during the team’s 2022 MLS campaign.
Driussi’s goal made all the difference.Â
The player’s right footed strike from the left side of the box won the game for Austin FC.
After heading into the second half with a 1-1 draw, Driussi’s shot into the top right corner earned the visitors the three points.
FC Dallas’ offseason addition Alan Velasco scored his second goal of the season on Saturday against Sporting Kansas City in a stunning fashion.Â
He needed no help from his teammates, burying a free kick into the back of the net from the left side of the box. Goalkeeper Tim Melia made the dive, but could not stop the strike.
A first this season.Â
Sebastian Ferreira scored a stunning goal all the way from the midfield to top this list. It was a spectacular right footed shot from more than 35 yards out that caught Austin FC goalkeeper Brad Stuver off guard. He ran back to attempt the save, but there was no stopping Ferreira’s shot.Â
Houston may not have won the game, but Ferreira’s efforts became a true contender for goal of the season.
