FedEx unveils mural ahead of Champions League final to immortalize 2021/2022 season

FedEx Express unveiled a mural outside Stade de France ahead of the highly anticipated final, illustrating Karim Benzema, Mohamed Salah, Jurgen Klopp and Carlo Ancelotti to immortalize the 2021/2022 Champions League Season.

The giant, street art feature captures the defining moments of this year’s campaign, including Luca Modric’s assist to Rodrigo in the quarter-final, Robert Lewandowski’s bicycle kick goal against Dynamo Kyiv, and Benzema’s ‘Panenka’ penalty vs. Manchester City.

“There has been so much drama leading up to this Final that it’s only fitting we celebrate every moment of it in style. You’ve only got to glance at some of the images in FedEx’s mural to get a real sense of what this tournament means to the players and managers involved,” said Steve McManaman, who attended the revelation.

“Football fans will be looking at this wondering what could possibly happen next as we head into the game on Saturday – it’s really exciting.”

The piece was created in collaboration with street artist MurWalls, who painted onto a wall of nearly 200 FedEx boxes.

“We’ve created some unique street art in our time but painting on 200 cardboard boxes was a brilliant new challenge for us,” MurWalls Founder and CEO Marc Silver said.

“As football fans we have lived and breathed these moments as they’ve happened across the season, so to celebrate them again in this way is very special. We hope it gives fans that final injection of excitement before the game on Saturday.”

Fans attending the final between Liverpool and Real Madrid will be able to see the installation outside of the stadium, just as they enter. It will remain visible throughout Saturday, ahead of kick-off.

The 2021/22 UEFA Champions League final will be played on May 28 at Stade de France in Saint-Denis.
