New York Giants QBs ranked among NFL’s worst

The New York Giants will enter the 2022 regular season with a quarterback room consisting of Daniel Jones, Tyrod Taylor and Davis Webb.

In comparison to just a season ago, that’s a significant improvement for Big Blue. They have three entirely capable quarterbacks if called upon, and their collective football IQ is off the charts.

Despite that, Jones continues to battle heavy and relentless criticism, while Taylor swats away similar commentary. Webb, meanwhile, is often overlooked despite being an NFL coach-in-waiting.

The continued skepticism was evident in a recent ranking of all NFL quarterback groups courtesy of Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report. He ranked the Giants No. 30 overall.

Starter: Daniel Jones

Backups: Tyrod Taylor, Davis Webb

After the New York Giants used a first-round pick on Daniel Jones in 2019, there was promise and enthusiasm. By the end of his rookie year, Jones had earned the love of many fans and a nickname: Danny Dimes.

Since then, things have gotten steadily worse.

In his second season, Jones failed to hit 3,000 passing yards and had just 11 touchdowns with 10 interceptions. Last year, his yardage dropped yet again to just 2,428. Over that two-year stretch, Jones won just nine of 25 starts.

Given that slide, it’s not a surprise that the Giants passed on Jones’ fifth-year option, making 2022 the final year of his rookie deal.

The only teams ranked lower than the Giants were the Carolina Panthers (Sam Darnold, Matt Corral, P.J. Walker) and the Seattle Seahawks (Geno Smith, Drew Lock, Jacob Eason).
