New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley may not have fulfilled his promise as a pro football star just yet, but he has kept one other promise.
That one is to his parents, who he vowed to to become the first member of his family to earn a college degree, per Penn Live.
Saquon Barkley is officially a graduate of Penn State University.
That is, according to the Penn State football social media accounts, which tweeted a congratulations for the former Nittany Lions star and current New York Giants running back on Saturday.
“In 2018, Saquon Barkley was selected as the No. 2 overall pick in the NFL Draft,” Penn State football posted on social media, along with a photo of Barkley as a Nittany Lion. “Since then, he’s been working on finishing his degree, a promise he made to his mom (and) dad. As of today, Saquon is officially a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University.
It’s never too late. #WeAre”
“If it takes me four years, five years, six years, no matter what, I’m going to get my college degree,” Barkley said four years ago, before entering the 2018 NFL Draft. “That will be another special moment for my mother and me, when I’m able to go up there and get my college degree.”
Barkley was one of 15 current and former Nittany Lions to earn their degrees this year. Washington Commanders first-round pick Jahan Dotson and Shaka Toney were also given their diplomas this year.
