LeBron James Is First Active NBA Player to Become A Billionaire

Los Angeles Lakers’ superstar LeBron James is the first active NBA player to become a billionaire, per Forbes.

NBA Hall of Famer Michael Jordan purchased a majority stake in the Charlotte Hornets for $275 million in 2010.

Since then, Jordan has seen his net worth skyrocket; making him the only other basketball billionaire, per Forbes.

James has made more than $387 million in salary during his playing career, via Spotrac.

But James’s biggest earnings have come off the court, via investments in Blaze Pizza, Fenway Sports Group, and other equity stakes.

Forbes estimates that James is the second highest paid athlete in the world, behind only soccer superstar Lionel Messi.
