Rangers predicted lineup vs Celtic

Rangers will aim to crack open the title race in the Scottish Premiership when they make the short trip to face Celtic in this season’s final Old Firm encounter.

The Gers trail Celtic by six points ahead of the trip to Celtic Park, with defeat likely to all but seal the title for Ange Postecoglou’s side given their vastly superior goal difference.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s men were in Europa League semi-final action in their 1-0 first leg defeat to RB Leipzig in midweek and, with the return leg to follow next week, the Dutchman may seek to rotate his side.

Here’s how the Gers could shape up.

Allan McGregor (GK) – Tends to reserve his best form for these derby encounters, although he was left wanting for Celtic’s opener at Ibrox earlier this month.

James Tavernier (RB) – Will arguably be the biggest goal threat on the pitch for Rangers despite being a full back, which is remarkable.

Connor Goldson (CB) – The marathon man for Rangers, with February 2019 being the last league game he missed through injury for the Ibrox club.

Calvin Bassey (CB) – Likely to retain his place in central defence with Leon Balogun suspended.

Borna Barisic (LB) – Endured a torrid time on his last trip to Celtic Park, being hooked at half time after being torn apart by Liel Abada.

John Lundstram (CM) – Integral to the way Rangers approach the game both in and out of possession.

Steven Davis (CM) – The Northern Ireland international has struggled with injuries since van Bronckhorst came in, but he has shown his class in recent weeks.

Glen Kamara (CM) – Another player who struggled in the 3-0 defeat at Celtic Park in February, although he impressed in Germany in midweek.

Scott Wright (RW) – Badly struggled in a central role in Leipzig, but his pace will offer Rangers an outlet going forward.

Joe Aribo (CF) – His ability to hold the ball up in the absence of both Alfredo Morelos and Kemar Roofe will be key.

Ryan Kent (LW) – The extra space afforded the winger usually lends itself to some of his best performances for the Gers.
