Aston Villa will entertain offers for striker Danny Ings if they bring in at least one new forward this summer, 90min understands.
Ings only joined Villa in a shock £25m move from Southampton last summer, but has scored just seven goals in 31 appearances across all competitions since moving to the West Midlands.
90min understands Steven Gerrard intends to bring in at least one new forward this window, which would push Ings further down the Villa Park pecking order with Ollie Watkins often preferred up front.
If Gerrard gets his wishes then Villa will listen to offers for Ings, who won’t be short of suitors. Former clubs Southampton and Bournemouth have asked to be kept informed of his situation, while fellow south coast side Brighton are also keeping tabs on the 29-year-old.
Listen now to 90min’s brand new podcast, Talking Transfers, with Scott Saunders, Graeme Bailey & Toby Cudworth. This week Harry Symeou steps in for Scott and the trio discuss the futures of Bukayo Saka, Rafael Leao, Romelu Lukaku, Kalvin Phillips, Youri Tielemans, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Raphinha, Gabriel Jesus and more.
Elsewhere at Villa, Gerrard plans to give highly-rated youngster Cameron Archer the chance to prove his worth during pre-season. Villa have already received a number of proposals from Championship sides for his services but the club want to see if he can earn minutes in the Premier League this campaign.
Archer spent last season on loan at Preston North End, scoring seven times in 20 games for the Lilywhites.
