The New York Giants selected LSU cornerback Cordale Flott with the 81st pick in the 2022 NFL draft.
Here are three things to know about the team’s newest cornerback.
Late riser in the draft process

Flott (6-foot, 175 pounds) was a rotational player at LSU and only came to prominence after two starters — one being Derek Stingley Jr. — got hurt. He impressed in his pro day and private workouts and got himself on teams’ radars this spring.
Questions exist

From the Daily Advertiser: “At 6-foot and 175 pounds, Flott has length and quickness but his skinny frame may get exposed by bigger NFL receivers and limit his ability to consistently make tackles in space and against the run.
“He also only made eight pass breakups in his final two seasons while grabbing just one interception in his college career. Improved ball skills for Flott will be even more important for him because of his slender frame.”

The Giants would have to play Flott in the slot. Here is what NFL.com’s Chad Reuter sees in the former Tiger:
“He started all 10 games at the nickel spot in 2020 (43 tackles, 4.5 for loss, four pass breakups) and then lined up at cornerback, nickel and safety during the 2021 season because of injuries in the Tigers’ secondary (41 tackles, one interception, three pass breakups).”
