3 NFL teams bold enough to call Clemson coach

With Dabo Swinney’s coaching staff upturned, he may be more tempted than ever to turn pro. Which NFL teams would be bold enough to give him a call?

The college football coaching carousel has already spun around several times at a chaotic speed. The NFL coaching carousel is just thinking about getting into gear.

Once it all gets rolling, Clemson fans can expect plenty of rumors to swirl around head coach Dabo Swinney, who could have more motivation to leave college than usual.

Swinney has been vocally against Name, Image and Likeness rules changing the CFB landscape. Much of his coaching staff was poached with both coordinators taking head coaching positions elsewhere.

If now is the time, which NFL teams would take a look at Swinney?

3 NFL teams bold enough to call Dabo Swinney

Jaguars

Sure, the Jaguars just had a horrendous experience with another college coach who wasn’t up for the job. However, Urban Meyer and Dabo Swinney could not be more different types of coaches. Where Meyer was always a bit controversial, Swinney carries none of that stink.

If Jacksonville wants to try again, Swinney would be an option despite his lack of pro experience. He’s already won with Trevor Lawrence.

Raiders

The Raiders enjoy making a splash with their coaching hires and plucking Swinney out of Clemson would do exactly that.

Las Vegas fired Jon Gruden over a series of offensive emails. Based on all known info, there’d be no reason to expect that kind of controversy from Swinney.

Bears

Matt Nagy is still technically the head coach of the Bears, but that won’t be true for much longer it seems.

Chicago needs someone to come in and drag their franchise out of its current malaise. They need someone who can take Justin Fields and give him something to work with on offense. Swinney did it with Trevor Lawrence. He could recreate that success with Fields in the pros.
