New Orleans Pelicans’ guard CJ McCollum is joining ESPN as an NBA Analyst, per ESPN.

“It is my honor to be joining the ESPN family in this new role and I am excited to bring what I feel is my unique perspective, based on my vast knowledge of the game that I’ve gained during my nine years as a player in the NBA,” said McCollum in a press release.
“To have an opportunity to put my journalism background to use on the largest stage with the many talented professionals at ESPN is a dream come true.”
McCollum, 30, is also the President of the National Basketball Players Association.
In nine seasons – eight and a half with the Portland Trail Blazers, one half with the Pelicans – McCollum has averaged 19.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists on 46%/40%/81% shooting splits.
McCollum has also (perhaps more notably) helped grow initiatives within the Players Association whilst being a community advocate and philanthropist.
In 2014, McCollum put his Bachelor of Arts in Journalism degree to good use by interviewing NBA Commissioner Adam Silver.
Since then, McCollum has appeared on a variety of basketball programs.
McCollum will appear on ESPN’s alternate broadcast for Game 1 of the NBA Finals.
