SINGAPORE – Jack Della Maddalena thinks he’ll have to bring the fight to Ramazan Emeev at UFC 275.
Maddalena (11-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) meets Emeev (20-5 MMA, 5-2 UFC) in a welterweight bout which opens up Saturday’s main card at Singapore Indoor Stadium. The bout airs on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN2 and ESPN+.
Maddalena rates Emeev’s skills highly, but with all the Russian’s UFC bouts going all three rounds, he knows the type of fight he’s in for.
“I think he’s a good competitor, he’s well-rounded, I think he’s pretty boring, he’s pretty flat-footed,” Maddalena told MMA Junkie. “I think he’s gonna try and make it into a slow contest and drag it out to the end and my plan is to try and go in there and sting him and finish him.”
On the other hand, Maddalena has finished all but one of his professional fights and despite Emeev’s different style, he doesn’t plan on changing his approach.
“I think with my style it just happens naturally, but I just feel like it’s kill or be killed basically,” Maddalena said. “It’s him or me and I try and go at my opponent with everything I’ve got, and I think that’s what I’m gonna do every time. My game plan doesn’t change a whole lot, just try and keep it standing and damage him.”
He continued, “I’m gunning for that finish, and I’m sure I’m gonna get that finish. Either round it doesn’t really bother me. The later the better would be cool, but any round I’m happy with.”
