The Albert Pujols era in Los Angeles came to an abrupt and surprising end on Thursday after it was announced that the team was releasing the 41-year-old slugger. Pujols’ best baseball was clearly behind him, and rumors were already circulating that he was going to hang ’em up after this season. Still, the MLB world was stunned to see Pujols let go by the Angels a few weeks into the last season of the 10-year, $250 million deal that he signed back in 2011. His exorbitant salary makes it all but certain that he will make it through waivers, and from there it’s anybody’s guess as to whether his MLB career will continue with another team or not. But baseball fans will have to grapple with the thought that they may never see the former three-time MVP on an MLB field ever again.
Which brings us to today’s quiz of the day. Throughout MLB history, 31 players have won the AL or NL MVP Awards more than once, including Pujols. So with that in mind, how many of those players can you name in five minutes?
Good luck!
