Max Scherzer dealing with ‘multiple blisters,’ oblique injury

Despite being without four-time All-Star starting pitcher Jacob deGrom all season thus far , the New York Mets haven’t missed a beat, racing out to a 25-14 start this spring. They lead the NL East over the second-place Philadelphia Phillies by a whopping six games already.

The Mets may soon lose their co-ace, fellow multi-Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer, as well. The major offseason acquisition is dealing with multiple injuries. Scherzer removed himself from his start Wednesday night against the St. Louis Cardinals due to left side discomfort, and while the team is still awaiting results from his Thursday morning MRI, the early indications and rumors don’t sound promising.
