Social media star Logan Paul is just days away from the fight that nobody thought would ever happen, an eight round exhibition with five division world champion Floyd Mayweather.
Mayweather, who retired back in August of 2017 with a perfect 50-0 record, is planning to do a real number on the 26-year-old Paul.
Paul made his boxing debut in 2019, when he lost a controversial split decision to Youtube rival KSI.
The social media influencer was a wrestler in his younger days and liked the sport of mixed martial arts, but found boxing to be the easier path to follow.
“I didn’t choose boxing, boxing chose me. Seriously, I got challenged to box. I answered that challenge and then kind of fell perfectly into the sport. Truthfully, boxing’s a bit easier on the body than MMA. MMA’s f—— hard,” Paul told Showtime.
“I got bad knees. I’m old now. I’m aging. My upper body’s strong. My upper body always has been strong. I got dense-ass bones. I’m in like the top half-percentile in bone density. My strength is all here. MMA is tough. The lower body knows.”
Mayweather, although much smaller in size and 44-years-old, holds a significant edge in experience and skill.
But Paul is not intimidated and believes he’s got the perfect strategy to pull off the upset.
“Fight my heart out. Fight my f——- heart out. Fight my heart out. That’s the beautiful thing about this sport. Experience, it’s fantastic. In almost any industry, experience is going to trump everything else. But at the end of the day, this is a fight and anything can happen,” Paul said.
“I try not to let it consume me but it’s exciting. But going in there to do a job, to get a job done. It’s business. Another day at the office. Literally, I’m going to walk in the office, chill, the bell’s going to ring and I’m going to go ‘this is crazy’ and then f—— fight my heart out. It’s another day.”
The fight takes place on Sunday, June 6, in Miami, Florida. Showtime Pay-Per-View will broadcast the event.
