Jesus Ramos Decisions Luke Santamaria, Avenges Uncle’s Defeat

Barclays Center, Brooklyn – In a junior middleweight contest, Jesus Ramos (19-0, 15 KOs) won a ten round unanimous decision over Luke Santamaria (13-3-1, 7 KOs).

The scores were 98-92, 97-93 and 97-93.

Ramos avenged his uncle, Abel Ramos, who a few months ago lost a controversial decision to Santamaria.

Santamaria spent the first round moving and landing fast punches whil staying away from Ramos’ power. Santamaria continued to box well in the second, as Ramos was not doing too much but applying pressure. More of the same in the third, with Santamaria just sticking to his boxing and Ramos not doing that much.

In the fourth, Ramos began to land a little more, but Santamaria was landing the left hand often. Santamaria’s defend and movement gave Ramos issues in the fifth. Ramos picked things up in the sixth round with heavier punches and continued to rally with shots in the seventh. Ramos was pressing more, and landing more, in the eight and ninth. The tenth round was close, with both fighters boxing at mid-range. Santamaria rallied with punches in the closing moments.
